Craigslist Scams on local Listings

by Andrew Iremonger

RENTERS BEWARE

There is a scam going out on Craigslist where scammers are finding vacant property online and pretending to be the owner's of the property and renting them out to unsuspecting people. Don't be a victim, please do your homework BEFORE sending money to anyone claiming to be the owner of a property. If needed, check with a local Realtor and have them look into the "owner" to ensure they are not one of these scammers.

Every Realtor in our MLS Board has access to a system that can check people out to make sure they are who they say they are so don't hesitate to give us a call if you think something seems "fishy" about the Landlord you are about to send money to.

AND REMEMBER - if they ask you to break into the house for access, it is probably a scam.
