We are going to jump right into these MUST do items and be sure to read until the end because our 6th item on our list has so much to do, it will keep you and anyone you are with, busy ALL day.
1. The Beach:
· While it seems obvious, this is one of the best parts about Fort Walton Beach
o Powder white sand
o Emerald clear waters
o Lots of room to play and explore
o Great for play, water boarding, swimming, enjoying the fish, paddleboarding, tossing a ball, frisbee, etc
o But also great for relaxation, whether it is enjoying the sounds of the waves, sunbathing, meditation or grabbing a cold drink and enjoying some great music
2. Wild Willy’s Adventure Zone -
· Mainly steered towards the kiddo’s but great fun for the adults too! Here are just a few of the great activities they have to offer
o Bumper Boats
o Race track
o Putt putt golf
o 4D movie experience
o The Tree top Challenge, both exhilarating and safe with a huge pinch of fun
o A well kept arcade
o And of course, food for when you need a recharge
3. The Air Force Armament Museum
a. Great fun for anyone who enjoys aircraft or history in general
i. The Armament Museum boasts planes, and other misc. history from the following era’s, Korean War, Vietnam War, WW1, WW2, and the Gulf War.
ii. Some of the great REAL artifacts you can see are the A-10, the B-17, MH-53, the infamous and insanely popular AC-130 that still reigns terror on its enemies today, and a personal top plane of mine, the SR-71.
iii. Listen, we don’t have time to go over EVERYTHING in this museum and that is why this is high on our list of something you MUST do while in Fort Walton Beach.
4. Liza Jackson Park
a. Liza Jackson has over 1,000 feet of water front, boat ramps, a fishing pier, restrooms, playgrounds equipment and plenty of walking space.
b. One of Liza Jacksons most prominent features is an entire section dedicated to our 4-legged best friends.
c. They have even gone so far as to make sure the separate the big dogs from the little dogs so everyone has a great time.
d. And just in case the pups all playing together isn’t enough fun for them – they have their OWN beach to hang out and splash around in!
5. The Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park-
a. Although they are closed at the time of this shooting, they offer a lot for the entire family.
b. A general admission ticket will get you access to their exhibits, shows, and training demonstrations, enough entertainment to keep you busy for a while
c. If you want to take your experience up a notch, you can add in an animal encounter. That is exactly what it sounds like, snorkel with stingrays, pet a dolphin, pet and hold a penguin, turtles, sea lions, and if you’re brave enough, even play around with a live Gator, Florida style!
6. Now let’s talk about the Boardwalk of Fort Walton Beach!
a. Shop, Dine and Play are the three words that come to mind with the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island
b. Lets start with Shop – there are several big names in the shopping category that come to mind when it comes to any beach town, so whether you need a SPF 50 shirt to keep the rays off you in the sun, or just some fun casual beach gear, they have you covered.
c. When it comes to play, well they have it all, there is a full beach, volley ball courts, sun sand, water and everything in between
d. When it’s time to stop and grab some food to get some energy back in your system, you will not be disappointed.
i. Rockin Taco’s rocks a pretty mean taco, fajitas and great margaritas to boot.
ii. The Crab Trap has all the traditional seafood fair you could ask for in a great atmosphere
iii. Floyds shrimp house is another great waterfront dining experience with fresh seafood, and you guessed it, outstanding shrimp
iv. Al's Beach Club and Burger Bar has everything it’s name states as well as amazing frozen custard shakes and a large selection of craft beers, in case you need a moment to “cool off”
7. Now let’s take a turn to our 7th and final pick for things you MUST do in Fort Walton Beach, the Emerald Coast Science Center –
a. Located off of Memorial Parkway in Fort Walton Beach, this Science Center has a ton of bang for your buck, especially if you have little one’s in tow
b. Not only can you book a birthday or special event here, you can also see lots of different animals, from snakes to parakeets!
