So, you are headed to the Fort Walton Beach area and you want to know all about the weather here during the winter months.  Well, today we are going to talk about just how cold it gets here.

Honestly, we get so many phone calls, emails, and texts every single day of people moving to the Fort Walton Beach and surrounding areas. We absolutely love it! If you are thinking about moving or relocating, make sure you reach out to us, give us a call, send a text, shoot us an email, or send that carrier pigeon our way. However, you would like to get a hold of us, we have your back when moving to the Fort Walton Beach and surrounding areas!

So, what is it like here in the Fort Walton Beach area during the winter months? How cold does it get? Does it even snow?

Let us start with the month of October. I know some states up North start getting a bit of snow but that is not the case here. We still have 80° weather days.

The daily high temperatures range from 82° - 74°.

The daily low temperatures range from 66° - 57°. Rarely falling below 44°.

We still have some warm days, especially with the sun out. We still get to enjoy the beach, getting some sun, enjoying the water and outdoor activities. Towards the end of October is when it does start to get a bit cooler.  But here, we are still enjoying our beach days here! Just way less of a crowd.

Are you a golfer? Perfect weather to be out on the course! Same for cyclists, tennis matches, and water activities including kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, and even a nice day out on the boat. With the evenings getting a bit cooler you still head over to the Gulf and watch our beautiful sunsets!

  •          In November the weather starts dropping a little.

The daily high temperatures range from 74° - 67°.

The daily low temperatures range from 56° - 50°. Rarely falling below 37°.

Still warm weather here. Especially, with the sun is out it can make it feel much warmer. During the month of November, we can still enjoy some beach time, fishing, golfing, and even water activities!

With the evenings getting a be a bit cooler ranging in the 50’s. Time to get the fireplaces and outdoor fire pits going all while enjoying time with friends and family.

  • December and the following winter months, it tends to get much cooler.

The daily high temperatures range from 67° - 61°.

The daily low temperatures range from 50° - 45°. Rarely falling below 31°.

Once it starts getting in the 30’s. That is when you need to start paying attention to your pipes. You want to let them drip so your pipes do not end up freezing. It can happen here. We are still Florida, so do prepare for some rain. Some parts of the day can be a bit warm and some parts can be a bit chilly.

Still enjoy the outdoors with cycling, walking, camping, and even outdoor sports. Especially on those nicer days! Now, most of the water-related things to do are not as popular in December, though.

  • January

The daily high temperatures range in the low 60°’s.

The daily low temperatures range in the low/mid 40°’s. Rarely falling below mid/low 30°s.

-          February you are going to see a small increase

The daily high temperatures range from 61° - 66°. Rarely falling below 66°.

The daily low temperatures range from 45° - 50°. Rarely falling below 32°.

-          March and April arrive, and Spring is starting to show up which means more of an increase here!

The daily high temperatures range from 66° - 71°. Rarely falling below 58°.

The daily low temperatures range from 51° - 56°. Rarely falling below 37°.

The days are getting a bit warmer. The nights are still a bit cool. Start enjoying the beach more and getting back out there on the water! Summer will be here before we know it!

I really hope you found this blog post helpful in preparing for the colder months here. As you can see, it does not get too cold here, we will have some cold days and nights but nothing to stop you from still enjoying our beautiful area and the emerald coast! Make sure you have a nice warm jacket; a rain jacket and you are good!
